Epcot’s World Showcase – A Look at the European And African Country Pavilions

The World Showcase in the Epcot Center features a showcase of all eleven countries from North America, Africa, Europe and Asia. These country pavilions surround the World Showcase Lagoon. This article would feature the countries coming from Europe and Africa.

Norway – The only Scandinavian country featured in the showcase pavilions. This pavilion gives you a glimpse on how Vikings lived during those years. The visit would not be complete without riding the Maelstrom Adventure Cruise. This Viking ship takes you on a journey through troll, polar bear and pirate infested regions and with a climax that is a total surprise. After you survived this voyage, sit back and relax as you are about to view a wonderful presentation of this beautiful country.

Germany – The land of great beer and sausages displays an awesome pavilion that transports you back to the 16th century. The clock tower sets the site for this area complete with the dragon slaying statue of St. George on top of the fountain. In Germany, you have that different feel that you can be part of folklore history.

Italy – A taste of Venice is what they offer as you enter the Italian pavilion. From gondolas, to barber poles even the Neptune Fountain at the center of Plaza del Teatro, somehow you would feel the romance over and over again. The highlight as well for this place is 83-foot version of the bell tower called the Campanille of St. Mark’s Square.

France- If Las Vegas can have a replica of their own Eiffel tower, then so does the French pavilion in Epcot. You could feel a bit romantic and nostalgic once you walk the streets of this pavilion. Being transported to a time where provinces are known as La Belle Epoque or the beautiful time as what they say. Also don’t forget to catch the film Impressions of France at the Palais du Cinema. This film captures the highlights of what this country has to offer.

United Kingdom – You don’t have to cross the Atlantic Ocean to visit this country. It has its own pavilion complete with classic British architecture and design gardens. Kids can enjoy as well a short hedge maze to test their problem solving skills. There is entertainment in the form of a Beatles tribute band and even some comedy improvisation dance troupe to amuse park goers of how does it feel to be British.

Morocco – The only African country that is part of the showcase pavilions. The architecture of this mysterious country is displayed through its old city which is Ville Nouvelle and the new city called Medina. You can even bump into the cast of Aladdin as you visit the shops or sample their unique cuisine.
