Democratic congressional leaders are marshaling a message to President-elect Joe Biden “strongly endorsing” his promise to return to the Iran nuclear deal with out preconditions, Gregory Meeks, (D-N.Y.), the incoming chair of the Home Overseas Relations Committee instructed the Quincy Institute this week.  

“We’re sending a sign to our allies that America is getting again to the desk!”

The letter, first reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Company, was organized by the members of the whip workforce that secured assist for the JCPOA in 2015 — Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Rep. Jan Schakowski (D-Sick.), Rep. David Worth (D-N.C.) and Rep. Meeks, along with Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.). It decries the Trump administration’s exit from the settlement and argues {that a} return to the deal is not going to solely stop an Iranian nuclear bomb, but additionally lay the “basis for progress on different crucial points.”
