Jets vs. Ravens final score: Lamar Jackson embarrasses New York in blowout win

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens overwhelmed the Jets on Thursday in a 42-21 victory in which Jackson sat for much of the final quarter.

Baltimore (12-2) rushed for 218 yards against a New York defense that entered as the best run-prevention unit in the NFL. Jackson carried eight times for 86 yards, in the process breaking Michael Vick’s single-season rushing record for quarterbacks. He also tied his career high with five touchdown passes as he continued to impress in all facets.

With the victory, the Ravens clinched the AFC North and moved closer to securing home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. One more win and they are guaranteed to host the conference championship game, should they make it that far.

With the defeat, the Jets (5-9) sealed a fourth consecutive losing season. They played from behind for most of the game and hurt themselves with mistakes (two turnovers and a missed field goal kick) and wasted opportunities.

10:50 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Jets. New York blocks a punt and returns it for a TD. That came out of nowhere. Extra point is no good. 35-13, Ravens.

10:38 p.m. — Only real question as the fourth quarter begins: How much longer does Jackson need to stay in?

End of third quarter: Ravens 35, Jets 7

10:34 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Ravens. Lamar Jackson now has four touchdown passes. This one went to Seth Roberts. Another dominant, MVP-worthy performance. 35-7, Ravens.

10:19 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Ravens. The Ravens, ruthless as ever, go for the throat with a deep ball from Jackson to Marquise Brown, who barely manages to drag his second foot to secure the score. 28-7, Ravens.

Halftime: Ravens 21, Jets 7

9:42 p.m. — The Jets get the ball back via punt and move the ball past midfield, but Darnold is intercepted.

9:32 p.m. — Turnover on downs. Can’t fault the Jets for being aggressive and going for it, but that’s a crucial missed opportunity after moving the ball well down the field.

9:28 p.m. — Two-minute warning.

9:25 p.m. — Darnold has settled into this game nicely. He’s stringing together third-down conversions and has moved the Jets into the red zone.

8:47 p.m. — Jackson is up to 52 yards rushing in the first quarter.

8:45 p.m. — Huge run for Ingram all the way inside New York’s 40. So much for that great Jets run defense limiting the Ravens on the ground.

8:34 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Ravens. Mark Ingram breaks into the end zone. 7-0, Ravens.
