Like many Americans, I suck at geography. Living in the midwest, it’s just not that relevant to my life.
That said, even I had a decent sense of where Ukraine was, just from tv news. My brain said, “Isn’t it on the lower left side of Russia?”
And it is.
Nowhere near Bangladesh. Brain that generally sucks at geography even knew that. On an unlabeled map, I might’ve been a bit to the left or right, but Italy’s boot is a decent anchor on where the eastern side of Europe is and my lame brain remembers that the east side of Europe touches those “Eastern European” countries that used to be the USSR. Ukraine’s on the lower left, of Russia, somewhere to the right of Italy.
Bullshit that someone with degrees in European studies didn’t know where it was.
