Some midseason Patriots slipups have opened the door for the Bills to steal the AFC East, but Buffalo will need a win over New England in Week 16 in order to have a chance at the heist.
The Bills (10-4) have trailed the Patriots (11-3) in the standings since Week 4, when the teams first faced each other. New England won that meeting on the road, 16-10, en route to an 8-0 start.

An upset Saturday would mean the Bills need a win over the Jets and, more improbably, the Dolphins to beat New England in Week 17 in order to win the division. Even if that’s not likely, though, playoff-bound Buffalo would be making a statement with a win over the Patriots, as well as securing the higher of the wild card seeds.

5:27 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, Patriots. New England uses 17 plays and 8:58(!) to go 81 yards and settle for a field goal. An illegal block penalty put Brady behind the sticks, and he couldn’t get out of it. Patriots 10, Bills 3.
5:18 p.m.: The Patriots barely convert a fourth-and-1 on about the 30-yard line. Big call, which may be challenged.

4:53 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, Patriots. Tom Brady hits Matt LaCosse for an 8-yard score. Long drive that took 7:26 off the clock. Patriots 7, Bills 3.
4:40 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, Bills. Buffalo can’t do much with the short field, but it’s still 3 points. Bills 3, Patriots 0.
4:36 p.m.: FUMBLE, Patriots. Rex Burkhead has a solid gain, but he’s caught from behind by Jordan Poyer, who punches the ball out. Micah Hyde falls on it and returns it all the way back to the Patriots 29-yard line. Huge swing early.
4:33 p.m.: New England begins with on its own 21 after a poor return.
