Weave Hairstyle Techniques That Every Woman Should Know

Updating your hairstyle with the latest new look is easy with weave hairstyles. Weave hairstyles are great as they are versatile, stylish and at the same time low in maintenance making them the perfect accessory without the “ouch” factor. This kind of hairstyle works by adding hair extensions or sew-ins to a person’s natural hair to add volume or even to change one’s hair style.

Types of Hair Used

There are five different kinds of hair used with the hair extension – Brazilian, Indian, Malaysian, Eurasian and Peruvian. Brazilian hair texture is usually coarse, thick and full making it perfect for African-American women. Indian hair weaves on the other hand are thicker in terms of texture. A virgin Indian hair is quite expensive because it is untreated and as such has its own natural luster. Malaysian hair is distinguished for its soft and fine texture. It is easily manageable and soft to the touch. Eurasian type on the other hand comes from the hair of people with European or Asian descent. This type is very thick as well but smooth and silky to the touch.

Hair Weaving Techniques

One of the safest techniques is the Malaysian Sew-In method. This method adds the hair without using any braid or adhesives to harm your scalp or result to hair breakage. This technique is perfect for women who have short hair locks of even up to an inch in length. The method lasts for about a month to two months with proper care.

For women who want to add volume to their hair or to cover bald areas or thinning, the traditional sew and net weaving technique is the best option. A thin mesh net is used as a foundation for the extensions, where each extension is attached to the mesh instead of the natural hair. This prevents adding extra stress to the existing natural hair. With proper maintenance, this would hold for up to two months.

For those who are interested in a cheaper alternative to the traditional weaving, the quick weave technique is available. During the weaving, bonding adhesives are used to attach the hair to the natural hair. A liquid sealant is used to protect the head from the bonding glue which can be washed off after shampooing.

For ladies who want their extensions to last more than a few months, then the micro link fusion weaving technique is ideal. In this procedure, the hair extensions are attached to the natural hair via hot glue. A copper tube is also used to attach the extensions to the root hair. Although this would last for more than a couple of months, it is important that one seek a professional to do this technique as one might get burned accidentally from handling the hot glue.
