If you fancy something strapless and flirty this summer, consider buying a bandeau bra. No longer are women stuck with unattractive options in strapless bras – nowadays the range is huge but bandeaus make a fun, interesting and comfortable change.
There are many designs to choose from – from plain white, to different colors, and even to animal prints. They also come made from just plain material or some have a pretty lace trim.
A bandeau bra is basically just a band of material that wraps around your breasts. Most of them do not have hook and eye fasteners at the back so are put on by pulling them over your head. They are a bit like tube tops but in more of a bra style. Despite being advertised as strapless nearly all of them come with hooks and removable straps that you can use if you so desire. This may be because straps give you more confidence or because you have some fancy rhinestone encrusted fashion straps that you want to show off. The flexibility of the hooks means you can try some more interesting ways of fastening straps – you are not confined to the conventional style, but can go for halter or cross back styles.
Bandeau bras, as with normal bras, come with different levels of support. Basic versions offer no support, while others have shaped cups giving light support. If the bandeau has foam padding it will likely offer medium support and for those women who need a decent amount of support, there are under wired versions available.
Bandeau bras can be worn in place of a normal bra, but they are typically worn either for their comfort when relaxing or as part of a layered effect. Layering clothing has become more popular and this style of bra is the perfect first layer. If used in this way it will be seen – either completely through a sheer blouse or just the top part peaking out through a low cut top. If you plan to use it as part of layering, you will want to choose a pretty color or interesting style for the best effect.
